Hi folks! Great news. Looks like the sun might just come out
in time for summer. Are you ready? Prepare your 50 SPF sunblock and your
favorite complaints about the heat.
But please, take a break from the kvetching long enough to sign up for one of
my very special classes, which will be held at Dog Mountain Farms late
this summer. Here's how it works:
We'll take a meander through the farm, located in the Tolt Highlands above
Carnation, Washington. We'll go through the fields and pick out all the ingredents
for a "farmer's lunch". Then we'll prepare the meal together; we'll
talk about farming, eating local, how to select foods at the peak of ripeness,
and why supporting your local farmer is just so dang important. We'll all sit
down to an amazing meal (and I mean it people, there will be tears), and take
in a gorgeous view of the Cascades. Lunch will be a three-course meal,
including wine. The menu is weather-permitting, but here's what I have planned:
Sunday, August 22nd, 11 AM-3 PM:
- Roasted Rosemary Potatoes
- Spicy Greens with Asian Pear Dressing and Nasturtium Flowers
- Grilled Duck with Blackberry Reduction
- Lemon Thyme, Melon and Honey Granita
Sunday, September 26th, 11 AM-3 PM:
- Braised Fennel, Apple and Celery Salad
- Corn, Tomato and Squash Succotash
- Whole Roasted Chicken with Crabapple Glaze
- Bay and Lemon Verbena Creme Brulee
Sign up for this one-of-a-kind experience today. Classes are
$ 65, and spaces are still available. Please go to www.lostartsschool.org/chefseries.htm
