Every Day Can Be Food Day

Celebrate Food Day! I’ll be making a delicious and inexpensive Smoked Salmon Potato Salad with ingredients collected from the market. We will be at the Co. City Farmers’ Market today, October 19th, from 4-5.

Come join Cascade Harvest Coalition today at your local Farmers' Market for the last day of the season, where we'll be taking part in a nationwide celebration called Food Day-a movement calling for healthy, affordable food produced in a sustainable, humane way. The recipe is featured in CHC's FRESH cookbook, which you can purchase here or at the market today via QR code. All proceeds go to benefit Cascade Harvest Coaltion, a non-profit dedicated to re-localizing the food system in Washington by connecting consumers more directly with producers. CHC is at the heart of what Food Day is all about: breaking our reliance on Big Food and reconnecting with our land, our producers, and ourselves.

In the middle of the shouting over what-if anything-this whole "Occupation" is about, I hope that one simple message prevails: stuff is broken, and we want to fix it. There are myriad parts of that need attending to.

Smoked Salmon Potato Salad

If you want to take action, my suggestion is to take up your forks and put them down in a big plate of locally made food. Eat, enjoy, repeat. It's that simple.
