Celebrate Food Day! I’ll be making a delicious and inexpensive Smoked Salmon Potato Salad with ingredients collected from the market. We will be at the Co. City Farmers’ Market today, October 19th, from 4-5.
Over warm stew and a glass of wine, folks easily share things that they otherwise keep to themselves. Feelings that seem overly ebullient or stories that seem too sad for public discussion have a safe harbor among folks you’ve mixed, kneaded, risen and broken bread with.
I grew up afeared of the moldy, the aged and the undercooked. Anything brought to life in the dark and left there for a while has to be a bit suspect…and broody.
I can’t fight with the heat anymore, and the overwhelming sense of futility in the face of my current task: organizing and boxing my cookbooks.
